Creating an AR/VR Integrated Teaching Material
Hello everyone! 😊
I want to share the experience of our homework project. We had to use AR (Augmented Reality) or VR (Virtual Reality) to make language learning more interesting, and we decided to use AR with my group friends.
AR adds digital images or information to the real world. For example, when you use an app on your phone or tablet, AR can show you extra details or images on the screen, like a 3D model of a building or labels on objects. AR doesn’t change the real world, it just adds things to it. VR is different because it creates a completely new, virtual world. When you use VR, you are taken into a different environment that is not real. You usually wear a headset that covers your eyes and sometimes headphones for sound, which makes you feel like you are actually inside the virtual world. These technologies are changing the way we learn by making it more interactive and fun. AR adds digital images to the real world, and VR allows you to explore virtual environments. Both of these tools make learning more exciting.
For our material, we used Canva to design the materials and 360stories.com for the AR content. We focused on famous landmarks and museum like the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, and even Tiramisu, a popular Italian dessert! We added QR codes to our material to help students easily access 360-degree videos. Using 360-degree videos, students could visit these places virtually, as if they were actually there. At the end of the project, students had to write an email to a friend, describing their experience in Rome. This task helped students practice writing and reflect on what they learned.
Overall, this homework showed us how AR can make language learning more engaging and interactive. Students not only learn about different places but can experience them in a way that feels real.
I’m so excited to hear your thoughts on our project! Your ideas and suggestions will mean a lot to us thank you for your time!
