AI Tools in Language Learning and Teaching

Hello everyone!!!!!!

Today, I'm excited to share my insights on the final assignment our teacher presented in our ICT class this term. We assigned on a project to integrate AI tools into the language learning and teaching process. Let me tell you about the specific AI tool we used: Magic School's Character Chatbot and Writing Feedback Tool.

Our task involved creating an interview using these innovative tools. This experience allowed us to delve into the potential of AI in enhancing language education. The AI tool we utilized is designed to generate content and provide tailored feedback according to students' needs. Its rapid and personalized responses enable students to quickly identify and correct their errors. Magic School offers a variety of functions, including voice generation, mathematical calculations, and even joke crafting. This efficient platform helps teachers to easily evaluate and plan lessons, significantly improving the teaching process.

I and my group mate Hümeyra, used the AI tool to ask The Blacklist's producer Jon Bokenkamp 10 questions we were curious about. Then, based on the answers provided by Bokenkamp, we prepared a report. After completing our report, we sent it back to Bokenkamp for evaluation. Recognizing the importance of feedback for us, we requested Bokenkamp to provide a careful and detailed assessment. Thanks to the feedback we received, we had the opportunity to make improvements to our report. Thus, we made this step in our learning process more efficient and improved the quality of our report.

Character Chatbot 'Jon Bokenkamp'

The feedback we received after the interview with Jon Bokenkamp contained valuable insights into the content, structure, and presentation of our report. Bokenkamp enriched our report with detailed answers to our questions. eceiving feedback was an important part of our learning process because it provided an external perspective for us to objectively evaluate our report.The feedback helped us improve our learning process and prepare a more effective report especially on conclusion part. Thus, we were able to see deficiencies and improvement opportunities more clearly.

Creating a Flipped Classroom Video

  Hello everyone! 😊 I want to share our experience of creating a vocabulary teaching video for a flipped classroom. Our teacher assigned this homework and gave us two weeks to complete it. We worked as a group of four. The process was challenging, but we shared the tasks as a group. For this task, we picked the Fıtness unit from the MEB Grade 5 English coursebook and focused on teaching key vocabularies about it. At first, our teacher suggested tools like Powtoon, Edpuzzle, and Animaker, but we decided to use Canva because it was easier and faster for us. Canva allowed us to add visuals, animations, and our own voice recordings to make the video more interesting.
