Creating a Corpus-Based Teaching Material

Hello everyone I hope you’re fine and ready to learn something new! As for me, my exams ended a week ago, but I still feel exhausted. However, since it has been a semester nearly full of assignments, I know I must keep going💪.  Today, I want to share my experiences as an assignment about how my friends created a teaching material and lesson plan using the ASSURE model and a linguistic tool, COCA (Corpus of Contemporary American English) to help students learn the difference between say and tell.    The lesson encourages exploration and critical thinking, making it more engaging for the students. We started by choosing our vocabulary items: say-tell from the MEB coursebook. Then, as a corpus, we chose COCA. Guess Who's Back?

  Hello everyone! 😎 It’s hard to believe it’s already been 3 years since I started my university journey.  I’m excited to be back on this blog! 👀 Last year, I started this blog for my 'ICT and Material Design in ELT class', where we posted on different topics as part of our homework. It was my first experience with blogging, and I found it exciting to explore this new way of sharing ideas. I enjoyed writing about educational topics, and it became a fun way to reflect on what I was learning. This year, I’m continuing with this blog for my new course, Current Issues in Teaching. In this course, we’ll look at what’s happening in education today, the issues teachers face, and new ideas and methods in teaching. My posts will focus on these current topics and how they shape our understanding of teaching. I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts on these subjects and hearing your ideas too.
